A Rather Gusty Craft Fair
Posted by Janet in News on May 27, 2014 .Sunshine at last! A beautiful day as we arrived at the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood, for their Annual Craft Fair and Open Day.
We set up our stall after a muddy start, against a backdrop of emerald fields with rescued ponies grazing and enjoying life once again.
Our stall looked inviting with everything sparkling in the sunlight. The Guins were very excited!
Every now and again though, the wind blew in gusts, mixing up our products randomly, and creating chaos on the table!!
It was fun though, and we met so many lovely people who had come along to support the event and to raise money for the animals.
A very...
Old Spitalfields Market
Posted by Janet in News on April 08, 2014 .Last Saturday we set off to Old Spitalfields Market, just outside the City of London, to display our products and hopefully sell some too!!
It was a beautiful sunny day and when we arrived there was a massive buzz of activity, and a feeling of excitement. It felt really vibrant and special as there has been a market on this site since the 1600's, and the Victorian Market Hall we were in was built in 1876.
We managed to unload and set up our stall amongst a variety of all kinds of interesting and trendy stalls. (I have to say that our stall looked quite impressive with its sparkly table and variety of products!!)
The day whizzed...

Posted by Janet in News on November 17, 2013 .Get involved in Small Business Saturday UK!
On Saturday 7th December the UK is promoting its first ever SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY!
It already takes place in the US and is a well established commercial holiday there. It is usually held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Small Business Saturday is to encourage people in the UK to try and support small businesses on 7th December and to continue their support into the future.
This special day is endorsed by all the major political parties to get the UK moving. Government departments are working with the campaign to help make it a...
The Plight of the Northern Rockhoppers
Posted by Janet in News on October 28, 2013 .Although our Guins are happy, I'm afraid the Northern Rockhopper penguins are not quite so cheerful.
Between 1955 and 2006 there has been an awful loss of these cute, charismatic birds. In fact, 2 million pairs were lost from Tristan da Cunha and Gough in the South Atlantic Ocean.
And now, since 2012, they are still sliding towards the edge of extinction. It is so sad to think that we are losing 100 Rockhoppers every day.
Their decline could be due to climate change, or maybe over-fishing for squid and octopus by humans. Rockhoppers not only feed on krill but are also partial to a bit of squid.
Let's hope something can be...

Hazy Summer Days - Howzat Cricket Fete
Posted by Janet in News on September 07, 2013 .A distant memory as summer begins to disappear.
It was such a beautiful sunny day, blue skies and hardly a whisper of a breeze - just right for the Howzat Cricket Fete.
We arrived early and set up our gazebo, displayed some of our products and sat back in our deck chairs watching the cricket. It wasn't long before interested customers wandered over to see what delights we had to show them.
Met so many wonderful people during the day who all made such positive comments about Ruffld.
Our solar lamp shades looked fabulous hanging from the gazebo, and our new felt banners really caught people's eyes. These will be appearing on our...

Posted by Janet in News on July 25, 2013 .How to transform an old chest of drawers!
Posted by Janet in News on July 04, 2013 .Thought today would be a good day to write my next blog, which is all about our beautiful cream rose door handles.
Just by replacing your current run of the mill or well-worn handles on an old chest of drawers or cupboard can bring a whole new lease of life to a piece of furniture. If the old handles screw into the drawer front then they can easily be removed and the new ones can be screwed in, in an instant!
One of our customers chose to brighten up their shabby chic french style drawers and they look fabulous. Take a look at the photo that they sent us. Wonderful!
